Design

The architects at Ziebell + Partner pursued a holistic approach that integrates nature into the building. The green walls were planned on both sides of the entrance door and frame the path to the reception area. A special design feature is the open angle of the walls, which invites you to explore the space. The plants play around the wooden beams of the roof structure and blend seamlessly into the surroundings. This concept required a water-resistant construction that would elegantly frame the plants and protect the wooden beams from moisture. For this reason, Corian®, an environmentally friendly solid surface material with a low VOC content, was chosen.

Implementation

The implementation of the vertical greenery was a real challenge, as the plants are supplied via a controlled drip irrigation system behind the wall. Thanks to many years of collaboration, the production of the Corian® wall edging was awarded to Hasenkopf. The frame parts were precisely matched to the contours and angles of the wall and manufactured in the color Corian® Glacier White. Due to its composition of acrylic and stone powder, the material is water-resistant, does not deform and does not expand. The elements were glued together on site in a seamless and watertight manner so that the construction fulfilled all functional requirements and accentuated the green aesthetics in Depesche's reception area.
