Wine culture is increasingly living in symbiosis with design culture. The holistic experience translates the characteristics of the wines, the attitudes of the winegrowers and their individual approach to quality into clear statements about form, function and design. Pleasure starts with the first moment.

At the Weinkorb vinotheque in Remstal, this maxim is consistently implemented by the architectural firm Spitzbart+partners, starting with the striking exterior design made of wood. The mixture of materials and shapes culminates inside in a cubist and seemingly unreal counter over six meters long made of white solid surface material, the center of the room. A wine counter for the winecult.

Design

 

With its complexity, uniqueness and a cantilevered area of over two meters, the desk plays a key role in the interior design. 23 triangles of Corian® Glacier White, varying in size and angle, form a three-dimensional topography supported by a concealed wooden body.

Implementation

 

The precise and seamless connection of the geometric shapes at exact mitre angles is made possible by our many years of experience in the machining of solid surface materials using 5-axis CNC machines. The precisely machined triangles are glued together seamlessly and carefully sanded. In this way, the sum of its individual parts creates a total work of art whose plasticity and weightlessness defy its massive dimensions.
