In order to offer its employees a place to celebrate their personal successes, Germany's leading real estate bank, DZ HYP, is transforming the once dreary 1970s courtyard of its headquarters into a place with an inviting atmosphere.

The architectural firm Kontor Freiraumplanung, or kfp for short, was commissioned with the concrete planning in 2019. They will then create a concept that combines spacious green areas with organic, futuristic design objects made of solid surface material.

Design

 

The focal point of the open space is a 33-metre-long bar counter made of Corian® Glacier White, which surrounds a lush sea of plants. The white, amorphous look separates the space as a band and appears weightless despite its solid metal substructure from BWS Metallbau. The sinuous form seems to follow the shape of a leaf.

Implementation

 

In order to absorb the thermal expansion effects on the outside, the construction is provided with discreet joints. The curved, three-dimensionally shaped surface flatters the hand and invites you to touch it. It also allows rainwater to run off and supports the choice of solid surface materials as a robust, durable and weather-resistant material for outdoor use.
