The architects from the Stuttgart-based Ippolito Fleitz Group planned the gigantic interior design, but were faced with an enormous challenge: the entire construction period was only six months. In order to keep to the schedule, which was "somewhere between ambitious and impossible", they had to rely on 100% reliable project partners. This required cross-border cooperation between the contracted company Riedl and the support of Hasenkopf in a location with weak infrastructure.

Design

The central masterpiece of the building is the auditorium: the 50 meter wide and 48 meter high walls were designed in a fusion of tradition and modernity. To improve the acoustics and create a sublime, weightless atmosphere, the Ippolito Fleitz Group planned backlit wall cladding. With an area of over one thousand square meters, these are considered to be one of the largest wall installations made of solid surface material in the interior. The challenge for Hasenkopf lay in the implementation of this hyper-real aesthetic: the individual Corian® wall panels had to be milled to different depths on the back and thermally formed in order to create the staggered light strips that visually unite the room into a flowing unit.

Implementation

Despite the extremely tight time frame and logistical hurdles, Hasenkopf in Mehring produced hundreds of wall panels under high pressure . It was only thanks to our high level of expertise in state-of-the-art processing technology and project management that this spectacular project could be completed on schedule. We milled the fine lines for the ornamental patterns from the huge, thermoformed Corian® panels with millimetre precision and manufactured the matching wall brackets for our client Riedl. The result is a hyper-real light corpus that not only improves the acoustics, but also impressively demonstrates Hasenkopf Industriemanufaktur's ability to realize even the largest and most complex architectural visions worldwide.
