The focal point of the open-plan living space is an angled kitchen island whose geometric shape deliberately reflects the appearance of a rock. Corian® solid surface material in Deep Titanium gray was chosen to clad this sculptural kitchen block. The challenge lay in the perfect implementation of the polygonal surfaces in order to combine the design with the desired functions. This required various custom-made products, including asymmetrical drawers and a custom-made kitchen sink. An additional, warm accent was created by producing a separate washbasin niche in HIMACS Orange, which echoes the color palette of the sunset.

Implementation

The complex, multi-angled Corian® surfaces were processed at the Hasenkopf factory. By using state-of-the-art CNC technology and its extensive experience in processing solid surface materials, Hasenkopf was able to manufacture the polygons of the kitchen block with millimeter precision. The precise prefabrication of these individual pieces and custom-made products guaranteed the Brandl joinery an uncomplicated assembly on site. The "Shine on" project impressively demonstrates how the close partnership between design, craftsmanship and Hasenkopf's industrial precision can successfully implement visionary architecture.
