Around 80,000 passengers from all over the world take off and land at Munich Airport's Terminal 2 every day - one of the most modern airport buildings in the world. For the refurbishment of the WC facilities, a solution was sought that perfectly combines design, hygiene and durability. The result: 60 washbasin systems with a total of 300 Corian® basins from Hasenkopf Industrie Manufaktur, which combine functionality and aesthetics at the highest level.

Design

 

The client's requirements were clear: A high-quality, timeless look, generous seamless surfaces and easy-to-clean, hygienic surfaces. The material of choice was Corian® in the colors Everest and Glacier White. Hasenkopf manufactured the washbasin units, including niche rear walls with coving and integrated paper waste chutes, individually to measure - partly in an L or U shape, partly as in-line washbasins with up to nine basins over a length of 11.5 meters. The homogeneous surfaces ensure a clear, calm appearance that fits perfectly into the modern architecture of the terminal.

Implementation

 

Hasenkopf processed a total of over 600 m² of Corian® for around 60 washbasins and twelve vanity units. The production was carried out accurately to size, ready for installation and on schedule for the carpentry firm Kuffner from Eching near Munich. The project was realized on behalf of WSP Deutschland AG between 2016 and 2018. Thanks to the hard-wearing, easy-care and durable surfaces, the systems can withstand long-term use even in heavily frequented areas - a perfect combination of function and design, made by Hasenkopf.
